The sample of this randomized controlled clinical trial consisted of 12 volunteers with a clinical diagnosis of chronic stroke, of both genders, in the age group between 40 and 80 years, with spastic hemiparesis of the upper limb, randomly divided into: Group A (GA n = 6), submitted to kinesiotherapy and Group B (GB n = 6), submitted to cryotherapy and kinesiotherapy. Active wrist flexion and extension of the paretic upper limb were assessed by manual goniometry. For data analysis, the Shapiro-Wilk and Student's “t” tests were used, with a significance level of p≤ 0.05. There was an increase in wrist flexion and extension ROM in both groups, maintained for one month after the end of the treatment, with the exception of Group A, which presented a reduction in wrist flexion ROM one month after the end of the proposed treatment. Comparing the groups, it was observed that there was no difference between them.
