A vida de um legendário depois da morte do autor (Fr. Diogo do Rosário, 1585)

Abstract

Fr. Diogo do Rosário was the author of the first legendary printed after the Council of Trent (Historia das vidas e feitos heroicos, e obras insignes dos Sanctos, Braga, António de Mariz, 1567). After his death, in 1580, the work will continue to spread, having its third edition and first posthumous in 1585: Historia das vidas e feitos heroicos, e obras insignes dos Sanctos (...) Agora nesta ultima impressam emendado cõ muita diligencia e acrecentado de algũas vidas de sanctos, Lisbon, António Ribeiro. Following previous works in which I analyzed the 1567 edition, in this article I analyze the first stage of the evolution of the legendary, what changes were made to the corpus and the criteria used in the rewriting of the texts.
