Abstract
In order to facilitate gender equity, it is needed that preferences, necessities and interests of both, men and women are taken care of in equal circumstances. Gender equity is a multifaceted goal and for this reason sport could represent another tool in the battle against gender inequality. It is expected that the practice of sport reflects other social common problems. In the case of Mexico, the practice of sport reflects gender inequality. Even the United Nations (2015) recognize the potential of sport for the empowerment of women. This article proposes that in a correct use, sport could represent a way to promote gender equity.
