Abstract
Velopalatal diseases represent a wide part of the stomatologic pathology. The high diversity of the lesions that may be encountered in the mouth reflects its semiological importance. Specific diseases may be located in the velopalatal zone, while other diseases are specific of the oral cavity, and others are only signs of a general disease. Anatomic patterns of the velopalatal region are described, followed by a review of the most frequent diseases that may affect this anatomic zone; as a chapter by itself, velopalatal clefts are not treated herein.
