Dangerosité en chirurgie maxillofaciale

Abstract

Awareness of the risks related to maxillofacial surgery, whatever the importance of the intervention, is based on an irreproachable knowledge of the concerned site anatomy; this is an essential factor for technical ease and risk control. Risks persist after the intervention, mainly haemorrhagic events and related hypovolaemia and respiratory distress, sometimes life-threatening. Peroperative haemostasis and postoperative aspiration drainage may not be discussed. Risk remains even in procedures with fictitious indications.
