Abstract
The lachrymal system secretes, renews, and then eliminates the lachrymal film. It consists of two distinct systems: the secreting apparatus and the excretory apparatus. Affections related to these two systems are frequent and sometimes under-diagnosed. Most of the time, the affections of the lachrymal excretory apparatus are revealed by an overflow apart from the lachrymal pathways, called the epiphora. If most of the time the lachrymal excretory apparatus diseases have only aesthetic consequences, it is not the case for those diseases of the secreting system since tears occur within the correct function of the cornea and thus of the vision. They have a protective role as they lubricate, clean, and disinfect the conjunctiva one and the cornea.
