Abstract
The article is a scrutiny of Indo-European roots presenting a velar consonant extension. We also aim to demonstrate that it was possible to extend these roots with a voiced as well as a voiceless velar occlusive; this entails a partial revision of Grimm’s law in Germanic languages.
