RESENHA CRÍTICA: A PRÁTICA DO URBANISMO

Abstract

Configured in the post-World War II period, the School of Fine Arts creates a caricatural alliance between two contrasting methodological trends: the academic tradition and the modern movement (PANERAI, 1996). Inviting to modern formalism, from the perspective of urban planning, the formal studies that associate architectural practices to the process of urban development are ignored, inciting a crisis in the relationship between urbanism and architecture. The objective is to discuss the territorial logic according to the practices and techniques developed in the postmodern period, wich are: territorial scales; layout and urban fabric; built types; and urban fabrics and shapes. Through bibliographic review of “The Practice of Urbanism”, by Philippe Panerai (1996), a more in-depth analysis of the importance of typological and formal studies of the urban fabric and it relation with the period that refers to modern planning and its impact on the city development projetcs.
