Abstract

This report reviews the current knowledge on the biosynthesis, regulation and secretion of Growth Hormone (GH) and Insulin-like Growth factor-I (IGF-I). Variants of human GH, molecular size variants as well as charge variants, and the GH binding protein will be discussed, and the regulation of expression of the hGH gene is reviewed. IGF-I expression, regulation of the igf-I gene and secretion is discussed and a separate section on the influence of the six IGF binding proteins is included.
