Abstract

This article deals with the investigation of the mental models that passers-by (between 15 and 25 years old) have in the Plaza de Bolívar in Bogotá, about the conception of smallpox disease and its infectious process within the body to relate to the viral infection of the fowlpox disease and the perceptions of it, taking into account the current situation of pandemic by covid 19 and the importance of the construction of knowledge in the face of a complex as relevant as viruses, consequently with the risk they pose to living beings. For this, a questionnaire was carried out, which includes drawings and a final interview. The present work was carried out with an artifactual stance from a hermeneutical-interpretive perspective, both the materials and the results obtained are observed from the perspective of Johnson Laird's Theory of Mental Models as a reference and way of analyzing the different mental models that are used. generated in the project participants, obtaining as results four general models, as a result of the questionnaire used, Model: Simple Rational, Spatial, Temporal and Kinematic, these established by the subcategories that were previously carried out with the data collected . In addition to three general models from the interview: Monadic, Relational and Metalinguistic; achieving in this way to analyze the explanatory models from a hermeneutic-interpretive nature, on the smallpox disease and its infectious process within the body.
