Apreciaciones en torno al carácter universal de las leyendas orales: una mirada a partir de la realidad amazónica brasileña/Notes Around the Universal Character of Oral Legends: a Look at Them from the Brazilian Amazonian Reality

Abstract

: This study intends to make a brief reflection on the universal character of oral legends, taking into account the narratives that flourish and multiply in the core of the enigmatic and fascinating Amazon. Through this literature of oral tradition that stands out in the region it is possible to get to know a large part of the cosmovision of the peoples who inhabited or inhabit it with all that this represents. Among other issues, legends invite us to reflect on the importance of preserving and making the voices of the forest known, especially in relation to caring for the so-called “lungs of the world”. Thus, we will take into account the realities of the more rural universe, of the riverside hinterland, with the desire to join these voices which, for a long time, have been silenced by “civilisation” and “progress”. In oral narratives reality and fiction merge and get mixed up, awakening in us all kinds of feelings. In the legends we underline the word as the main paddle that allows us to dislocate and move forward aboard the canoe that takes us to meet the most recondite of the Amazon oral tradition and allows us to write another page in the history of this literature, whose character is universal. For this reason, we consider it appropriate to extend this reflection to the field of teaching Spanish as a foreign language (ELE), while proposing the use of oral legends in the classroom, at different levels and educational settings.
