El proceso comenzo con la formacion del profesorado de la Universidad de Leon y del apoyo en la implantacion de una licenciatura y del Departamento de Ingles, para continuar posteriormente con la formacion de profesores «empiricos» y, en la actualidad, ampliar la formacion de modo que se puedan ofrecer propuestas de reforma curricular al sistema educativo nicaraguense. Se analizan, asimismo, los efectos positivos de la colaboracion para ambas universidades. ABSTRACT: This paper analyses the training activities carried out with teachers of English in Nicaragua by the University of Alcala in collaboration with the UNAN-Leon since 1988. The process started with the training of UNAN-Leon teachers and advice on the setting up of an English degree and of the Department of English. Secondly, the training was focused on the «empirico» teachers (without a degree in English studies) and, at the moment, the collaboration is directed towards offering innovative curricular proposals through advanced training (a Master's degree) and its consequent research.
