Abstract

The article is a case study on certified court interpreting. The author focuses on the analysis of court trials which took place with the participation of a foreigner which entailed the presence of a sworn translator of English, and tries to assess the accuracy of interpreting solutions used by sworn translators. The conducted analysis revealed that most frequently interpreters added or omitted information, clarified unknown terms in various ways, interpreted in 3rd person singular, or changed the tone and register of speech.
