Abstract
This article offers a modern take on the creative legacy of V.V. Kraevsky, his interpretation of the nature and function of methodological research in pedagogy, and insight into the mission of pedagogical science in society and the relationships between pedagogical theory and practice. It shows the prospects for using Kraevsky’s ideas to solve the problems of modern education.
