A Practitioner's Guide to the Freedom of Information Act 2000

Abstract

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 has given rise not just to the two Codes of Practice required by the Act but also to a great deal of guidance and other documentation to clarify, explain and support bodies subject to it. This article aims to clarify and summarise the Freedom of Information (FOI) ‘canon’ and to guide the reader through the provisions of the Act which are most relevant to records managers, archivists and others with responsibilities under FOI.
