Abstract
Lipid control is particularly important for improving the patient's prognosis after an acute coronary syndrome and a high level of engagement between different care pathways is essential for optimizing lipid-lowering therapy. One clinical situation addressed by the ACS-Europath (#ACSpathway) initiative was the process of referral to primary care. Maintaining seamless communications between cardiologists and primary care physicians and agreeing on management protocols is critical for ensuring that lipid control goals can be achieved in the shortest time possible and facilitate access to advanced therapies for selected patients.
