The ultrastructure of the type 2 cells in the malpighian tubules of Locusta migratoria

Abstract

An ultrastructural study has been made of the type 2 cell in the Malpighian tubules of Locusta migratoria. Its appearance was characteristic of a secretory cell. In particular the cytoplasm contained many Golgi derived secretory vesicles, similar to those found in the goblet cells of the rat colon.
