Abstract

New film composite materials containing natural polysaccharide—Siberian larch arabinogalactan—as a functional component on a porous polyethylene film are obtained. Arabinogalactan cannot be processed into films and fibers; therefore, in this work porous substrates are used for deposition of arabinogalactan and preparation of the film composites. Functional properties of the composites are investigated. A number of approaches to obtain the composites arabinogalactan/polyethylene is developed, the composition of the samples is determined, their morphology is studied, and the effects of preparation procedure on hydrophilicity, gas permeability and mechanical properties are estimated.
