La maternidad a través de la literatura italiana contemporánea: breves consideraciones acerca de la ciencia y la generación de la vida

Abstract

This paper will examine the literary representation of motherhood and the figure of the mother in the Italian context. In particular, we will analyse two works,  Le difettose (2012), written by Eleonora Mazzoni, and  Non mi vendere, mamma!  (2016) by Barbara Alberti, due to the novel perspective they provide on the subject: from a matrifocal narrative, both writers describe the experience of becoming a mother while undergoing several treatments and medical procedures, with different physical and emotional consequences for women.
