Findings Family carers of people who have a learning disability and/or are autistic may have needs related to mental health and well-being; however, formal systems of support and resources are limited. Originality/value The commentary explores and integrates perspectives from international research findings to provide a context/background of broader literature in which the paper by Blackman et al., is situated.
