Abstract

This text aims to report the experience on educational health practices that were developed in the waiting room for the registered population of a Family Health Unit in the municipality of Ponta Grossa, State of Parana, Brazil. This is a descriptive, qualitative study, carried out from March 2019 to February 2020. The project started as a consequence of the yellow fever epidemic in the region of Campos Gerais. In all, 66 educational actions were carried out. The chosen themes addressed issues of local relevance and were related to health promotion and disease prevention. Through the interventions developed in the waiting room, it was possible to work on all the proposed themes. As a result, the involvement and participation of users and health unit staff in the process was perceived. It was concluded then, that it is important to insert projects that value communication and the better reception of users in health services, such as the introduction of lectures, dynamics and parodies in the waiting room, as they qualify the care provided, in addition to promoting a more humanized care and the valorization of popular knowledge.
