Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the extent of parents' knowledge of communication disorders in the city of Mecca, and their relationship to some variables (sex, age, educational level, and economic level). The researcher used the descriptive method with a sample their number has reached 514 parents' from in Mecca, It was the tool used to measure their knowledge (Questionnaire) prepared by the researcher, it contained four axes related to communication disorders, namely (articulation disorders, fluency disorders, language disorders, and hearing disorders). the results showed that parents' knowledge of communication disorders in general is weak, and there is a statistically significant relationship at the indication level (≥ α 0.05) between the scientific level and the economic level and between knowledge of communication disorders; the higher the educational level and the economic level, the higher the knowledge of communication disorders while there is no statistically significant relationship at the indication level (≥ α 0.05) between gender and age and between knowledge of communication disorders.
