Abstract

Semiconductor quantum rods (QRs) emit polarized light, which shows great promise in the development of modern display devices with regard to energy efficiency and color enhancement. Here we demonstrate stretching of an aligned QR polarized film for brightness enhancement and optical efficiency improvement of current quantum-dot based displays. Study of the relationship between the QR material, stretching ratio and degree of alignment provides a guide for the fabrication of highly polarized QR film.
