Abstract

The paper is an attempt to synthesise, with the use of bibliographical references, the heritage of the Russian translation studies as registered in the corpus of dissertation annotations from the former Soviet Union and modern Russia submitted in the years 1937–2015. Dissertations concerned with the person of the translator have been analysed; in various works the translator is viewed from different perspectives, including scientific disciplines genetically foreign to translation studies such as literary studies, linguistics, philosophy, history, legal sciences, psychology and pedagogy. The total number of 197 dissertations have been devoted to various aspects of the translator’s work, which represents 9.4% of the documents in the corpus.
