Abstract
Two new neolignans, plagraneolignans A-B (1-2), in addition to eight known compounds, platycodin D (3), platycodin J (4), platycodin D3 (5), platyconic acid A (6), platycoside E (7), chlorogenic acid (8), hexyl β-sophoroside (9) and tryptophan (10), were isolated from the roots of Platycodon grandiflorus. Their structures were elucidated by means of comprehensive spectroscopic analysis, including 1D, 2D and HRESIMS, as well as though comparison with published data. The antioxidant and hypolipidemic effects of all isolated compounds were evaluated. Compounds 1-2, 8 and 10 exhibited the DPPH radical scavenging activity with IC50 values ranging from 40.4 to 54.9 µM and the capacity of reducing intracellular lipid levels on the HepG2 cell line in the range of 21.79–32.40%.

• Genetics of natural products
Manuscripts that detail the isolation of just one new compound are not substantial enough to be sent out of review and are out of scope. Furthermore, where pharmacology has been performed on one new compound to increase the amount of novel data, the pharmacology must be substantial and/or related to the medicinal use of the producing organism.
