Abstract

In this paper, we analyze the ethics of care from a feminist perspective considering the nonfictional work The Turquoise Legde: A Memoir, by Leslie Marmon Silko. Silko belongs to the indigenous community of Laguna Pueblo, located in New Mexico (USA). In addition to narrating stories about the author’s ancestors, the work addresses with the need for harmony between the elements of nature, animals, plants, and human beings and the various ecosystems, something that is fundamental for all species to live. Considering the theoretical contribution of the studies of ethics, morality, care theory, ecology, feminism, and rights of nature studies, in the analyzed work, the moral relationship and care from a feminist perspective corroborates an ethics of care that expands the universalization of a gender ideal to be employed in its practices, whether in human or non-human relations and the surrounding environment.
