Scientific feat of the Russian vietnamists (to the end of the complete translation of the «Complete Annals of Dai Viet»)

Abstract

The review is given on the translation of the main monument of medieval Vietnamese historiography "Complete Annals of Dai Viet" (Dai Viet su ky toan thu)", carried out by a team of Russian Vietnamese for 20 years. The history of the creation of the publication is considered in detail. The high professional level of the translation and numerous notes, the fundamental nature of the prefaces to each volume, and the large volume of appendices containing translations of Chinese sources about Vietnam of the described period are noted. This is the first and so far the only translation of the "Complete Annals of Dai Viet" into a foreign language, and its significance is great not only for Russian, but also for world Vietnamese studies.
