Abstract
The article shows that the current level of physiology does not explain the biological mechanisms of the organism
transition from one adaptation range to a higher one, with an increase in the strength of the regular stimulus above
the sub-extreme level. A new trend in the physiology of adaptation - proqredient adaptation - explains the mechanism
of increasing the resistance of the organism with dependence on psychoactive substances (PAS). It is scientifically
proved, that dependence of the organism on PAS is not the disease, but the state of proqredient adaptation.
