The community has various kinds of cultural traditions that still going on to this day, especially Javanese culture which is still preserved until now. This study aims to determine the community beliefs of the prohibitions on pregnant women and uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques using secondary and primary data. The data were obtained by conducting interviews with informants from the village and were analyzed using Roland Barthes semiotic theory. The results showed that the community believe that pregnant women (1) cannot go out at sunset, (2) cannot eat at the door, (3) cannot put a towel around their neck, (4) cannot kick the water, and (5) are not allowed to sleepover from place to place.
