Pegfilgrastim-related thoracic aortitis: A case report and literature review

Abstract

Pegfilgrastim can prevent febrile neutropenia during chemotherapy and helps maintain treatment intensity. Aortitis is a rare and serious adverse event associated with pegfilgrastim therapy. The mechanism of pegfilgrastim-related aortitis is unknown. We report a case of pegfilgrastim-related thoracic aortitis during breast cancer chemotherapy in a 69-year-old woman. This case report and literature review draws attention towards this rare adverse event with increasing incidence in recent years.
