Metodo: Estudio descriptivo, comparativo y transversal donde participaron 47 chicas (24 practicantes de baloncesto y 23 no practicantes). Se utilizo la bateria FMS, formada por siete pruebas: sentadilla profunda, paso de valla, estocada en linea, movilidad de hombro, elevacion activa de la pierna recta, estabilidad del tronco en flexiones, estabilidad rotatoria del tronco. Resultados: el estadistico R de Spearman mostro una relacion estadisticamente significativa de signo positivo entre la puntuacion global del FMS y la practica de AF extraescolar (p= ,023). Las chicas practicantes de baloncesto tienen mejor calidad de movimiento que las no practicantes, con diferencias estadisticamente significativas, puntuando mejor en todas las pruebas. Conclusion: se constata una relacion entre la practica del baloncesto y una mayor puntuacion del FMS. EnglishObjective: To assess the movement quality by applying the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) in girls teenagers aged 12-13 depending on whether they practice basketball as an extracurricular activity or not. Method: Descriptive, comparative and cross-sectional study in which 47 girls (24 basketball practitioners and 23 non-practitioners) took part. It was used the FMS test, which is composed by seven movement patterns tests: overhead squat, hurdle step, in-line lunge, shoulder mobility, active straight leg raise, trunk stability push up and rotary stability. Results: The Spearman R statistic showed a statically significant positive relationship between the global FMS score and the extracurricular PA (p =.023). Those girls who practiced basketball had better movement quality level than non-practitioners, with statistically significant differences, scoring higher in all the tests.
