Abstract

There are many cognitive sciences. Each one has its own characteristics and specifications, they address knowledge-related ment al phenomena, focusing on learning, attention, language acquisition, memory, emotion, inatism, competence and performance, as well as other approaches. This pape r focuses on two cognitive sciences: Cognitive Semiotics and Generative Syntax . The goal here is to bring their main assumptions comparing them in relation to thei r similarities and differences, thus making a parallel between both of them for a target public of researchers and students interested in knowing these two theories. Therefore , this paper turns explicit the biases of both Cognitive Semiotics and Generative Syntax, in addition to bringing its main authors and researchers.
