The Fourth Industrial Revolution in the Context of Regional Development: Trends and Constraints

Abstract

ABSTRACT Using the example of the Southern Federal District, this article offers a multifaceted, comprehensive study of the trends and constraints of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Russia’s regions, and prescribes practical recommendations for how Russia’s regions may adapt to the technological shift occurring in the world. The methodology of the study is based on an integrated-comparative analysis of the strategic development of the regions of the Southern Federal District during Russia’s transition to a digital economy. As part of the study, a sociological survey of 547 respondents was conducted on the topic of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
