Abstract

Understanding Literature through Writing The paper deals with methods of creative writing in context of literary studies both in Czech and foreign (Anglo-Saxon) academic environment. Through a comparative analysis of various historically anchored approaches, it shows the possibilities of using these methods in the educational process. The very term „creative writing“ appears to be inaccurate in this context, and some authors replace it with their own terms („textual intervention“, „transformative writing“, „literary experiment“). The aim of these methods is to understand literature. Writing becomes part of an interpretative dialogue.
