Supporting the Undergraduate Study of Theology

Abstract

This article explores the experience of a Research and Education librarian providing instruction, reference, and some collection development support for undergraduate theology classes while at the same time lacking expertise and experience in the field.  First, it discusses the importance of providing theological librarian support for undergraduate education at Providence College.  Second, the article details several of the challenges encountered providing this support.  Third, and perhaps most important, it examines ways that librarians without specific theological expertise can make use of the experience and training that we do possess.
