Small Enterprises and Non-Resource Exports in Kuzbass

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study compares the structure and geography of the exports of Kemerovo Oblast with the Russian national average in the last five years. Non-resource exports are analyzed as a factor in the qualitative improvement of the structure of foreign trade and the region’s position in foreign markets. The results of the study show that the dynamics of non-resource exports not only coincides with the national growth trend, but also surpasses it for certain groups of products. It is argued that non-resource and non-energy exports must be expanded to reduce the anthropogenic impact of the regional economy, to develop small and medium-sized enterprises, and to incentivize enterprises to stay in Kemerovo Oblast. Reasons are given for creating a regional export support center in Kemerovo Oblast.
