Presencia del clero español y latinoamericano en redes sociales

Abstract

Starting from a total sample of 1266 questionnaires (556 Spanish priests and 710 Latin American priests), a comparative study is proposed in order to identify the presence of the clergy in Social Networks, as well as their use in their ministerial activity. It is proven that they have sufficient means and, despite the fact that the Magisterium of the Catholic Church proposes that this space be explored as a place and means of evangelization, its activity is limited and insufficient and it focuses on networks less and less frequented by young people and adolescents. The work shows not only some deficiencies in this sense, but also opens the doors to future research aimed at determining the importance of this reality and its uses in the disaffection that is intuited in many young people and adolescents with the message and Christian commitment; and, if necessary, delve into communication models, accompaniment strategies, linguistic structures, types of language and vocabulary and even theological rethinking that would deserve to be revised to make the Christian message present and significant in the new spaces of youth socialization.
