Obesity and total joint arthroplasty: Does weight loss in the preoperative period improve perioperative outcomes?

Abstract

Background: The obese population is more likely to develop degenerative joint disease requiring total joint arthroplasty (TJA) and also experience increased rates of adverse post-surgical outcomes.
