On "Fetal and Perinatal Brain Autopsy: Useful Macroscopic Techniques Including Agar In-Situ and Pre-Embedding Methods".

Abstract

I read with delight the paper by van Dijk et al. in a recent issue of PDP addressing practical tips for a very sensible issue: manipulation of fragile fetal brains. Not being able to confirm a prenatal neurologic diagnosis is a most frustrating situation for perinatal pathologists. The introduction of agar pre-embedding techniques retrieves a number of fetal brains that otherwise are bound for the waste basket. As the authors were so kind to share their experience in the Advanced IPPA course held at Lisbon in 2018, I had the
