Abstract

Objective: To investigate the clinical effects of fan-shaped scar flaps for reconstruction of the wounds after auricular keloid core excision.

Methods: 193 auricular keloid lesions in 177 patients were treated. The fan-shaped scar flap, harvested from the surface of the auricle keloid, was clipped into the suitable size. The curved surface of flap was shaped into flat surface to cover the wound after keloid core excision without tension. Adjuvant intralesional injection of corticosteroid was performed intraoperatively and postoperatively.

Results: All the flaps survived completely with satisfactory aesthetic results. The effective rate of treatment was 96.4% (186/193),and the recurrence rate was 3.6% (7/193).
