Abstract

Grain whisky is typically manufactured in a continuous distillation unit comprising of two columns, the beer stripper and the rectifier. For the functional design of a respective sample still, Aspen Plus®, an engineering software package developed by AspenTech™, was used. Based on the literature data, the process parameters were manipulated to meet known characteristics of the production process and the spirit product. The results of the simulation were in good agreement with the data found in the literature.
