Abstract

Medicine is developing at an extraordinary rate in all clinical specialties, the pace largely driven by science and technology. General practice is developing professionally at a similar pace, but in addition is experiencing a huge change in the management of primary care, generated by the engine of policy and organisational change in the NHS.
