Abstract

This article presents an improved analytical model to calculate the performance of a single-sided linear induction motor (SLIM) with high-temperature superconductor (HTS) primary windings. Based on the subdomain (SD) method, the proposed model predicts the magnetic field and evaluates the impact of structural parameters for an HTS SLIM with semi-closed slots. It comprehensively accounts for the finite length of the primary iron core and the dynamic electromagnetic state of the superconductors. By integrating the physical and electromagnetic constraints of the HTS tape, the proposed model achieves significantly improved accuracy compared to conventional analytical methods. Finally, the validity of the proposed analytical model is confirmed through 2-D finite element analysis (FEA) and experimental results obtained from an HTS SLIM prototype.
