Abstract
Stepwise N-ethylation tunes N─H···Br hydrogen-bonding/steric-effect competition in homologous 1D hybrid lead bromides. The packing evolves from helical distortion to antipolar dipole cancellation and parallel polar alignment, producing chiral nonpolar, centrosymmetric antiferroelectric, and polar ferroelectric states within the same [PbBr3]− framework.
