Abstract
A coding metasurface integrated into a Fabry–Perot (F–P) cavity antenna is proposed for dual-polarized broadband radar cross section (RCS) reduction. PIN-diode-loaded coding elements are employed to realize binary “0”/“1” states with an approximately 180° reflection-phase difference for two orthogonal polarizations. The coding sequence is optimized by a simulated annealing algorithm to redistribute the backward scattering, while an anisotropic I-shaped ground structure is introduced to suppress the in-band scattering caused by cavity resonance. A prototype is fabricated and measured. The proposed antenna achieves a measured −10 dB impedance bandwidth of 7.75–8.0 GHz, a peak gain of 13.02 dBi, and dual-polarized broadband RCS reduction from 6.5 to 10 GHz. The results validate the proposed design for high-gain antenna applications requiring low-scattering characteristics.
