Abstract
This paper describes the contemporary inpatient management of cardiogenic shock, including critical care management and the use of mechanical circulatory support as part of a cardiogenic shock system of care. It highlights the importance of multidisciplinary shock teams for improving patient outcomes through advanced mechanical circulatory support systems and critical care management strategies. Drawing on successful models in trauma care, the paper discusses the evolution of specialized teams, the reduction of care variability, and the enhancement of survival rates through standardized best practices. A case study illustrates the effective implementation of these principles, resulting in improved short-term survival and long-term recovery for patients.
