Abstract

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women. Despite advances in screening and vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV), some patients are still initially diagnosed at a metastatic stage, while others subsequently develop a disseminated disease, associated with a particularly poor prognosis. Until recently, first-line treatment was only based on platinum-based chemotherapy combined, in the absence of contraindications, with bevacizumab, a monoclonal antibody that inhibits angiogenesis. However, this approach has recently evolved with the introduction of immunotherapy and the development of other innovative therapies currently under study, offering hope for improving survival in these patients.
