Abstract
In mouse models of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, surgical removal of orthotopic tumors typically involves removing the primary tumor along with the spleen. Here, we present a protocol for surgical removal of the tumor in the tail of the pancreas while preserving the spleen. We describe steps for implantation of mouse pancreatic cancer cells followed by the identification and removal of the orthotopic tumor. We also outline perioperative treatment strategies for tumor recurrence.
