Abstract
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a common disorder, affecting approximately 10-15% of the population. The Swedish Renal Registry (SRR) is a comprehensive national registry that follows patients throughout the entire disease trajectory, from diagnostic procedures and medical treatment to dialysis and renal transplantation. More than 90 000 patients are included in the registry, and all Swedish nephrology units contribute data. The coverage is high for the most important variables. Medical treatments to slow CKD progression, as well as therapies targeting specific diagnoses, are developing rapidly. The SRR plays a central role in monitoring and evaluating developments in nephrology care.
