Abstract
\({\text{B}\text{i}}_{4}{\text{T}\text{i}}_{3}{\text{O}}_{12}\), Sr\({\text{B}\text{i}}_{4}{\text{T}\text{i}}_{4}{\text{O}}_{15}\) and Sr\({\text{B}\text{i}}_{2}{\text{N}\text{b}}_{2}{\text{O}}_{9}\) compounds were synthesized by the solid-state reaction method. Phase purity was assessed using high-resolution and conventional X-ray techniques. The calcined powder was sieved through different mesh sizes before being compacted into pellets and then sintered. Ceramics arising from powder retained within the 50–75 μm range, when exposed to 1100 °C (\({\text{B}\text{i}}_{4}{\text{T}\text{i}}_{3}{\text{O}}_{12}\)) and 1200 °C (Sr\({\text{B}\text{i}}_{4}{\text{T}\text{i}}_{4}{\text{O}}_{15}\) and Sr\({\text{B}\text{i}}_{2}{\text{N}\text{b}}_{2}{\text{O}}_{9}\)) for 3 h, achieved a high densification leading to improved sintering process. Based on the dielectric constant and dielectric loss, granulometric separation might be an effective vector for enhancing dielectric properties.

The Bulletin of Materials Science is a bi-monthly journal being published by the Indian Academy of Sciences in collaboration with the Materials Research Society of India and the Indian National Science Academy. The journal publishes original research articles, review articles and rapid communications in all areas of materials science. The journal also publishes from time to time important Conference Symposia/ Proceedings which are of interest to materials scientists. It has an International Advisory Editorial Board and an Editorial Committee. The Bulletin accords high importance to the quality of articles published and to keep at a minimum the processing time of papers submitted for publication.
